Dr Opeyemi E Ayinde is an Agricultural Economist by training. She is a Senior Research Associate Fellow of the South African Research Chair Initiative (SARChI) at Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa and a senior lecturer of University of Ilorin, Nigeria. She acquired her PhD in Agricultural Economics in 2008 from University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria where she also currently serves as an academic Staff.
Her present key research interest is the economics of innovation in agricultural productivity exploring themes such as the agricultural producers’ behavior to risk, especially climate risk and as well to innovation; determinants of adoption of new technology, agricultural management strategies, effect of climate change on agricultural production and gender issues. She is currently carrying out research on economics of innovation on drought tolerant maize varieties - the research was awarded by International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) under Prime Agreement from CIMMYT for collaboration in implementation of Drought Tolerant Maize for Africa – Phase III. As a young researcher, she has publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as academic papers presented at various international conferences. She is a member of professional bodies such as Nigeria Agricultural Society, African Association of Agricultural Economics, International Association of Agricultural Economics and Risk Analysis Society.
