Proceedings of the 12th Globelics International Conference.

Introduction

Globelics has the mission of promoting and ensuring sustainable development in developing economies through conducting applied researches and sharing of best practices related to innovation, which policy makers can adapt to their own context. The 12th Globelics Internatinal Conference was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 29th to 31st October 2014 on the theme “partnerships for Innovation-based Development”. This theme was chosen in consideration of the significant role of public-private and university-industry partnership for promoting economic development. Even though the papers presented in the conference (more than 150) are so relevant for future research and practice, Globelics is used to preparing a booklet that only summarizes the conference programme and abstracts of the full papers. Thus, only 25 papers are included in this proceedings for practical reasons.

This volume of proceedings provides an opportunity for people to get access to and read outstanding papers that were presented during the conference. Divided into six sections, the papers published here illustrate the role of -LICs in promoting development along six dimensions (environmentally, technologically, agricultural innovation, industrial innovation, managerial innovation, and public-private partnership and linkage). The research papers discuss important lessons that can be drawn from and adapted to developing economies. They also have considerabl contribution to research in the area. Accordingly, readers would gain important theoretical knowledge about and insights into relevant practical innovations ranging from adoption of managerial, industrial, agricultural, technological, and environmental innovations to empirically tested public-private partnership models.
